Our Beliefs

We are a local church under The Methodist Church in Singapore, and our beliefs are grounded in Scripture and expressed in line with the historic Christian faith:

God

We believe in one eternal God, as revealed in both the Old and New Testaments — Father, Son and Holy Spirit — who created all things and sustains all things. He is the source of life, the ruler of the universe, and the One in whom we live and move and have our being.

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is eternally one with the Father and the Son. He works in our hearts to lead us into truth, convict us of sin, and guide us into righteousness. The Spirit empowers the church and equips every believer to live out God’s calling and to continue the ministry of Jesus.

The Church

We believe the Church is the Body of Christ, made up of all who trust in Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Christ is the head of the Church. We are called together to worship, grow in discipleship, serve in love, and proclaim the Gospel. The Church is both gathered (in community) and sent (into the world) — to be a witness to the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is truly God and truly human. Conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, He lived a sinless life and bore our sins through His death on the cross. He was buried, rose from the dead, and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He offers us forgiveness, salvation, and new life — by grace, through faith.

We affirm the Apostles’ Creed as a shared declaration of the Christian faith across generations:

THE APOSTLES’ CREED

(Traditional Version)

I believe in God the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth;
And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
the third day he rose from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic* Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.

Amen.
